  • The Man in the White Suit (1951)

In this movie, the protagonist is at a crossroads in his career, who has been trying to invent a long-lasting clothing fiber. After having been dismissed from several textile mills owing to his demands for expensive facilities and his obsession with inventing an everlasting fibre, he comes up with an incredibly strong fibre which repels dirt and never wears out. After an initial phase of glory, he is soon laid siege to with efforts on the part of the management and the trade unions of the textile mills to trick him into signing away the rights to this invention, because once marketed, it can eventually put the entire textile industry in vulnerability.

 

  • Zoolander (2001)

The movie is based on the fair wages law set by the Prime Minister of Malaysia but its improper aspects and implementation resulted in the end of various fashion models. 

At the end of his career, a clueless fashion model is brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

 

  • Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The movie talks about the aspect of how employees are overburdened and are forced to overtime and how the legal guidelines related to working hours are not implemented on ground level. In this movie, Emily, the intern, worked in the corporate office of a fashion company where while hiring it was told that there would be occasional overtime.

 

  • The Machinists (2010)

Set up in the industry of Bangladesh, it documents the exploitation faced by the garment workers in Bangladesh and even cites the difficulties faced by young women working in factories in Dhaka.

 

  • The True Cost (2015)

The documentary specifies how complex the problems with fast fashion really are and how there is a need of building the realm of ethical fashion. It uncovers how there is exploitation of human rights and ecological disasters in the fast fashion industry on a daily basis.
