Pick one random letter or a whole set, with options for vowels, consonants, no repeats and a game mode that skips the hardest letters.
Quick answer: tap generate for a random letter from A to Z. Each letter has an equal 1 in 26 chance, using your browser’s cryptographic random number generator. Turn on game mode to leave out Q, U, V, X, Y and Z, the letters word games usually skip.
Tap generate.
This generator gives every letter equal odds, but English text doesn’t. E, T and A are the most common letters, while Q, Z and X are the rarest. That’s why game mode drops the hard letters. A round on “X” is usually over before it starts.
It uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with rejection sampling, so every letter has exactly equal odds.
The original Scattergories 20-sided die leaves out Q, U, V, X, Y and Z. Game mode here does the same.
